Backsplash Thoughts
Hmm .... trying to envision what a very simple backsplash made with 18x18' honed marble tiles (to match the Bianco Carrara marble we used, in part) would look like. I can't seem to find pictures of any like this, so I literally cut and paste a backsplash onto a picture I had of the new counter, sink and faucet:
Because the distance from the top of the counter to the bottom of the cupboard is 18", there would be no horizontal seam at all, onlyvertical ones every 18 inches. Not sure you can really tell by this picture that the tile is marble ... wish there were some sample tiles in that size ... they are very hard to find though.

Cabinet Knobs
After trying out a few different knobs, we decided on these small oval birdcage knobs from Liberty in antique pewter. These are nice because they can be used vertically for cupboard doors or horizontally for pull-out drawers, so have an updated look to them. They also worked with the original screw hole, so did not require extra holes or patching. Last, but not least, they are just pretty. Did I mention there are 45 knobs to replace?
Here is a picture with the new knobs and paint job, so far, in Benjamin Moore Titanium:
