Stone on hold

Template for the countertops will be done next week and installation a week later! After an entire summer of looking at marble and granite, we have finally decided... and these are the actual slabs of stone we chose for our kitchen:

Slab of honed Bianco Carrara marble for Butler Pantry and raised bar. It was hard to take this picture because this one was behind some others. I love the way it feels!

Andrew is standing by one of our three slabs of Black Pearl. He has been such a tremendous help through this -- going to look at stone, measuring, spreadsheets, and helping with choices. It has been an education! These slabs will be used for the perimeter counters and the island. A little sad to be losing some of my workspace at the island -- we are cutting down the overhang to 10 inches on each of the adjacent sides per recommendations from the Marble Institute of America. Because of the cooktop, there is no way to install any sort of support and this is the maximum that they recommend. Currently they are 11 and 13 inches, so it is not too much difference.
